“What in God’s name happened here...” Hunter muttered. “But I suppose that no longer matters now. What does is whether the thing that dealt this is still around...”
“Quite true,” said Emmerich slowly. He was alert, scanning the surroundings with his weapon-light, rifle shouldered. “We shall advance...warily.”
The company moved along the corridor in a crawling pace, but met no resistance until they reached where the two corridors converge at a T-crossing. Emmerich peered out, turned his head to both sides, but quickly withdrew when he looked to the right. He held a finger to where his mouth is on the mask, his eyes widened. “D.L....to the right...blocking our way...can’t risk detour...we must destroy it...” He whispered to them under his breath.
