Karrson could feel the tension and fear in the air. He pulled out a grenade and waved it inquiringly before Emmerich. The latter shook his head. “Too loud.”
“So, how?” Hunter asked under his breath. “Guns are nearly just as loud in here.”
Karrson could see the visible strain on Emmerich’s face as he fell into silent thought. He was pressed to the wall opposite of the left direction of the corridor, so he could see the left side without having to lean much at all. The corridor turned leftwards again from there, going out of sight. He stared at a pot that held a flourishing vine plant in it place at the corner of the turn, thinking. He could think of no way out of their plight, or perhaps his mind was too stiff for creative escape routes. Suddenly a shiver shot down his spine, and he nearly jumped, for a person was slowly appearing from the turn the left, in a swaying and limping fashion, as if drunk or extensively weary.
“What is it?” Hunter asked, noticing his reaction.
“Somebody..or something is approaching...from the left.” He muttered. The thing turned now, slowly staggering in their direction. It was of human shape alright, yet its skin was swollen and corrupted, exposing muscles and blood vessels in some places. Its skin was of a lifeless gray colour, eyes pale as dead fish. Saliva and blood dripped from its half open mouth, showing sharp teeth. Long osseous claws grew from the end of its fingers.
