The lunch bell rang, giving off several high pitched rings unpleasant to the ear but quite relieving to the heart. Karrson hurried the last of his notes and and put up his pen and books. High-school was more draining than even he had expected, and he had made what seemed to him adequate preparation for the coming semester. Most of his class, among which Karrson had only time to know a hand full, were on their way to lunch. He stood and walked towards the door, and failed to spot a foot at the bottom waiting for him to trip on it. Karrson, not noticing the foot, did indeed trip and stumble, but luckily he was caught before he had collided with the fence just across the doorway on the other side of the corridor.
