Emmerich looked alarmed, but then resolve replaced it as he hardened his face once more. “Surrounded...hum...you know, I am starting to approve Karrson’s way of dealing with these things. If it’s not human, kill it. Look like we shall have to bust out of this one. Hunter, you take that zombie thing. I and Karrson will deal with the D.L.. On the count of three...”
The moment the countdown ended, Emmerich and Karrson threw themselves around and faced the right. The D.L. turned to them. It had the body of a man, bloated and swollen, yet no head. Some ten long tendril-like tentacles grew from the stump of its neck, whipping the air.
