They had gone for an unaccounted length of time before Emmerich halted again, at a landing on negative eight. A sign read “Sector U Reactor Room”, with an arrow pointing towards the doors that led into the facility.
“Christ I’m tired, Emmerich.” Hunter said, short of breath. “Can we just halt for a minute? We high-school students don’t really do intense combat operations twenty-four-seven, you know.” He collapsed against the wall. Karrson felt much the same, if not more, and seated himself on the stairs. Relaxing his legs has never felt so good.
