The Pathless on Paths---------Chapter VI part 6(8)

He took one last look at the cabin, and walked away, his foot-prints joining the others on the path. He had to finish what was lid upon him , and if something went amiss, he supposed that he could still return.
He walked and walked, for time he did not know. He felt no weariness, for all this still lacked reality to him. Another dream? Perhaps, but he know not when he would wake. Vaguely he saw something dark loom ahead, a long thin line of black that stretched out of sight to the left and to the right. As he drew nearer, he found that it was in fact a wide crack in the earth, the depth of with could passed out of his reckoning. As he stood on its edge, he looked down. A black abyss of nothingness. The foot-prints ended here, and he saw that some turned back, and some did not. His senses tell him that he was not in the waking world, and that all this is but an illusion. He felt that the foot-prints were trying to convey him a message, but he was not quite sure. He felt that, to end all of this, all he needed to do was jump, to jump and face what his task has to offer. He no longer wished to return to the cabin now, for he knew that this is were it must all end.
