This was exactly what Karrson had feared. If they were found sometime before, it was likely that they would be told off and taken back to their class, and they would have to wait for another opening. But now, they were fully armed with weapons, and being found now meant at least interrogation of their intentions, even if they were not shot on the spot.
They would have to make a break for it, thought Karrson. It was now a do or fail plight. He switched the safety on his rifle from safe to semi. He had shot a gun before, but only a pistol, and in a shooting range. This plight that now lay before him was wholly different. The click was heard by Hunter. He nodded slowly, and copied his actions. They would have to be quick if they really were going to escape, but something about the man’s words told Karrson that he was not so Giavoni as the others. He gestured to Hunter to wait, took a deep breath, and shouted in to the darkness beyond the flipped dumpster:
