The Pathless on Paths---------Chapter VI part 6

He looked around, and saw nothing. He seemed to be in an endless plain of snow-covered land, over which a storm bellowed endlessly. No mountains, no trees, and in fact no form of landscape at all. Just as he wondered what to do, something caught Karrson’s eye. Something was flickering far away, the light of which struggled to penetrate the falling snow, becoming only a far spark of hardly distinguishable light to Karrson. It was yellow, and reminded him of a fire. Since he had no clue where else he could go, he began to walk towards it. For a unknown amount of time he walked on, drawing ever closer to the lights. Gradually, another cabin loomed through the snow, a dark box amid the barren land. Its windows gave out the quivering light. As he walked along, he found that he had struck a worn path that seemed to be leading to the cabin. Excitement rose in him. And he quickened his pace. On the path many pairs of foot-prints dug into the snow, old and new, large and not so large. Karrson found it strange that they had not been covered by the relentless snow. Perhaps they are newly made, by someone who had just tread this path, who had just entered the cabin. He looked ahead: the details of the cabin now revealed themselves to Karrson. Plies of faggots by the door; a chimney out of which a billow of smoke rose, vanishing into the sky; the slanted roofs topped by snow like the sugar icing.
