Eventually they all all were briefed of the cause and adjusted themselves, and made ready for the trip ahead. They kept what they had seen to themselves, and continued on silently, making for another door on the other side of the warehouse.
Karrson strode in deep thought. The memory of the illusion did not fade away like a dream, but remained vivid. He felt that whatever it was, it was unlike a random and absurd dream. Something, or someone, was attempting to covey a message to him. The dream was also a test. A test to see if he was ready, if was worthy of the errand now assigned to him. It tested him for will, and for weakness of being seduced to mortal desire. It showed him the choice of giving up and enjoy false peace, or continuing on a hopeless journey of many perils and an unknown end. Was he, to put down what was laid upon him and remain Emmerily Karrson the high school boy? Or was he, to bare his burden to unknown doom, and so alter the doom of so many others? It was not about strength, wisdom, or ability. It was about his heart. Was he true?
He, Emmerly Karrson, was true, and so he prevailed.
