Eventually, he reached the door of the cabin. The front porch was now a few paces before him, yet Karrson did not move on. The path he had followed turned aside from here, and led into the white gloom to his left. Here, at this turning point, the foot-prints divided. Most turned aside and led into the cabin, but a few others followed the path away. Karrson stood, uncertain of what to do. He wished to enter the cabin, yet he had a sense of foreboding about entering it. Now he was close, he could hear no sound from inside. The windows were curtained, and the light he had seen came from the edges. He saw no footprints leading out from the cabin, only in. The pressing memory became stronger, and it called him to follow the path, that he had unfinished business that he does not remember at the end of that path. He saw clearly that now a choice lay before him. To follow his heart’s intention and enter the cabin, or to follow the path, and see to his unfinished errand, for he felt now that the pressing took shape, and became responsibility. He was burdened with duty he could not throw away, the end of which lies at the end of that path.
