Fog obscured his sight, and all became half-transparent white shapes. He could not feel reality, only numbness, as if he had been suspended from his senses. Gone also was his weariness, and panic, and fear.
He was sitting in a comfortable arm chair facing a merry fire in the hearth. Warmth drowned him. He tried to stand, and take a look around to see what this wonderful place is, but his legs did not respond. All he could do now was look from side to side. To his right, a few meters away, was a wall of wooden planks, dark brown and sleek. Light from the fire danced upon its surface. To his left were walls of similar fashion, only a window opened on it, revealing the world outside. It was snowing,a fine curtain of white flakes. Karrson had never seen snow before, living in the south. He wished to leave, to go out and catch the falling flakes, despite the cold. He saw a door beside the window. Again he tried to move, but his body made no response. Maybe this was best, he thought. He had always dreamed about being in a cabin like this while it snowed outside. He could just enjoy for a moment. Something felt pressing though. A vague memory of an undone task, perhaps. He could remember it no more, only that it was pressing. He told himself to neglect it, after all, if he had been able to forget it, it could not have been too important. Thinking of memories, Karrson had no memory of how he came here, or whither he came. A drowsiness began to creep over him. He did not want o sleep, though. He wanted to enjoy this warm atmosphere some more. Once more he tried to move his body, with the strength that normally would have thrown him to the floor again after rising. His right foot slid forward a little, and no more movement was contrived.
