“It seems that Giavoni had just received a great shipment,” Emmerich said. “I do wonder what they had planed to use these for. They did appear to have foreseen the outbreak of RZ, did they, and thought that their research could continue, regardless of what did to humanity? What for, if the research could benefit none? I am troubled, for I do not see their intentions, and thuds I cannot foresee their next possible move.” He held his hand to his chin.
“How about we get moving and pass this warehouse already. It gives me the creeps.” Clare said impatiently. They rest agreed.
They descended to the floor down a few flights of stairs, now among the shelves of boxes and containers.
“The workers here are probably infected, so stay alert.” Clark warned them. “It is dark.”
They advanced at a slow pace, back to back, scanning their weapons around them. Slowly they walked their way out of the maze of shelves, and the room opened before them, revealing its true vastness. The ceiling was so high that light could not reach it, and above them was am ocean of darkness. Karrson shone his light forward, hoping to reveal more of the room, only to find it obstructed by a thick layer of mist. Mist that was not there a moment ago. He wanted to call attention to his friends, but when he looked behind his shoulder he saw mist also, and only mist. It drowned him, enclosing him like a white and damp blanket. Panic seized him, and he could hear his heart pumping loudly. His head swam, and he felt that he lacked oxygen. His sight blurred, and his consciousness became blunt.
