The Pathless on Paths---------Chapter VII part 2(13)

Two things blocked the path before them. One of them on the ground, the other in the air. They were circling each other, seemingly in a fight. In the air was what looked like a black bird, but did not quite look terrestrial. Of a long and perfect cone shape its body was, and at the wide end was grown wings, or so it appeared. They flapped so furiously that one could only see their afterimage, a ring of half transparent black around the cone’s rear, enabling the creature to hover in the air, mush like a humming bird. At the front of its cone shaped body was what seemed to be a sharp beak, blending in to the cone of its body. Its wings made a loud zipping sound.

Its opponent, however, was somewhat of less peculiar growth. It seemed to a irradiated and enhanced version of an greatly enlarged weasel, with long sharp teeth that protruded from its mouth and claws of menacing length. It was looking for luncheon, perhaps, and now it hovers before him.
Just as Karrson watched this scene rather perplexed, the bird began to...swell. It seemed as if it was growing in volume, becoming fatter, especially to the rear. Then, sudden and without a sign of warning, it shot towards its opponent with speed far exceeding one’s expectations for such a small creature, making a sudden bang. The mutated weasel it seemed, did not expect this, and there came a sickening crushing sound of flesh and bone, and it was felled. The cone shaped bird rammed itself into its enemy, using its sharp body as a weapon of impalement. It then drew itself out of the remains of the weasel with a little difficulty, and began to feast upon it. The prey was in fact the hunter, as it was revealed.
