He had nearly fallen asleep when heard an shout from ahead and was dragged to the side. He lost his footing and fell into a ditch beside the path. Luckily he was not alone: everyone was laying prone in the ditch. He regathered his senses and asked, “What happened?”
“Focus, Emily! Did you not see the thing that was before us?” Emmerich whispered to him, pointing up the climbing path. Karrson leaned on the outer slope of the ditch and carefully peeked out, not knowing what to expect.
