Dr. Kater smiled to him from under the mask, and walked away, joining to tail of the passing group. Karrson and Hunter were just about to follow when a sudden noise struck them frozen. It was the noise they have been dreading all along: the whirring engine of the Giavoni aircraft. The noise overlapped itself, making it clear that there was more than one.
As they stood there dumbstruck and staring into the air, two crafts came within sight, one landing outside the door, the other suspending above the walled encampment, its downward jets disturbing the air and kicking up swirling dust. It was entirely black, an armoured and armed version of the prototype they crashed. Rocket pods were hung under its wings, and a large machine gun was mounted on its belly.
