“I think we just pissed it off,” Clare said, looking back. “It’s chasing us fast!” It indeed was, but its massive girth proved ill for it, a liability in the narrow and at times partly obstructed corridor.
They saw a pair of open double doors on one side of the hallway.
“Quick! Everyone in!” Emmerich motioned them in. “Block the doors!” Clark said, as he pushed a couch towards the door. They rushed to help. Soon the door was firmly barricaded, which proved just in time, as seconds later the doors banged and shook, as the monster attempted to force entry. The couch would not hold long. Karrson saw that they were in an elevator waiting room, with three elevators on either side, and a door to staircases in the corner. That is where the rest of the company was now retreating to.
