“Arraaah! Stop! Stop Stop! Go no farther! Somebody give me a hand!”
Karrson slipped and fell in attempting to slow his speed, and slid around the corner. He quickly scrambled up and shouldered his rifle. Apparently, the corridor beyond was barricaded by impenetrably think layers of large cobwebs, ending just at the turn. Emmerich who had evidently been running to swift to come to a stop on such a short notice, had crashed into them, and is now stuck and trapped. Karrson saw shadows turmoil behind Emmerich in the darkness filled with webs. The tapping same tip-tap sounds came forth, growing louder. Red reflective eyes shone out from the dark as Karrson light struggled to penetrate the webs. They were very near now. He heard Sanders curse behind him. The others caught up, but he could spare them on attention.
“Hold on, Emm. I shall shoot first!” Karrson knew he had no chance of successfully freeing Emmerich until the threats were eliminate before they reached him. He aimed at random points in the swimming shadows and kept firing. The shadows hissed and there came the sound of ripped flesh. Still more advanced, drawing so close Karrson’s light fell on their snapping and hissing pincers. The shadows were restless.
