A thought came into Karrson’s head as they walked, concerning they themselves. He had paid little attention to the the Radiation level of their location. He took out his gas mask again and placed it on, wishing to use the onboard system for a check. The system ook a while to gather information and samples. The modified Geiger counter was clicking slightly, showing a moderate strength of Radiation. No toxins in the air. His filter was 83% used. Ammunition was far from plentiful. He had already received a dose of Distortion Radiation higher than advised, but still far from life-threatening. Battery at 85%. Yes, they would have to keep an eye on their Radiation levels from now on. Too high a dose will be no better than a bullet to the head. The Radiation they faced was now no longer strong enough to cause large mutations to organic life, but it will destroy them, if built up. Karrson had seen no example of Distortion Radiation sickness yet, but he needed no telling that it would not be pleasant. Their hazmat suits were useless here, for they themselves carried Radiation stronger than their environment, but they could still be kept for more hazardous environments, or for decontamination and further use, if that be possible.
