Unpredictability of anomalies. Nothing was for sure, save only being not sure itself.
He lowered his head again, wondering whether they could round the sharp bend safely. Any mishap here will only lead to a painful and certain death. The rocking of the boat worsened as they drew nearer and nearer to the disturbed waters of the bend. Sanders grunted as they hit a particularly large wave.
Suddenly, over the loud roar of the engine and the boiling of the water another sound was heard, of a higher pitch, increasing in loudness. Karrson found it familiar, but could nor quite connect it to anything. He looked back, towards the direction from which the noise came, and saw in the distance a winged black blotch in the gray sky. Of course, he remembered now: the same souynd emitted by the engines of their earlier, now wrecked aircraft. Giavoni aerial forces have picked up their trail, and was tight on it, as the speck grew larger, closing the distance between them. Karrson could see the reflection of light from its windscreen in the distance.
