The Pathless on Paths---------Chapter V part 3(3)

Eyes. Eyes in the dark. Oft Karrson could catch sight of them: pale points of light of various colors, tucked away in nooks or crannies of the rubble, following their vehicle, passing out of sight before one could gain another look. Ground Zero was far from desolate, but full of life. What they were none knew, and one would not desire to know.
Karrson felt chilled by their unblinking stares as he saw them at an ever-growing frequentcy with their nearing to the great crack in the earth that the dust sprung, and is still springing from. Yes. When lighting struck in the brewing storm above them, their momentary brightness would sine upon their destination: the great, swimming, rotating pillar of dust now like an enlarged hurricane, spiting out its entrails and polluting the earth with its vermin. A low rumble of noise grew slowly, as they drew nearer. It shook the earth, and their hearts and guts vibrated with it. Its sound announced its massive girth to all, and it depressed them, both in sprite and in body. It made them realize, unquestionably, yet without evidence that the pillar was alive. It had intentions, and malice came forth from it like spewing flames, meant to scorch all and leave but death and destruction behind.
