Just a bet
“For fucks sake,” Childe quickly swirled his palm over the steering wheel so he could get them over to a safe place to park. “Why are you walking in this mess?” No answer came to him, but he didn’t care at the moment. “Take that jacket off, it’s soaked. Are your clothes wet?”
“O-only a b-bit.” She was shivering, teeth chattering. “Why d-did you s-stop? I already t-told you I would g-go out with you.”
“My little sister would murder me if she found out I let you walk home in this!” He was already shifting in his seat, struggling to get his heavy jacket off. “Here, put this on, just toss yours in the floor.”
He turned the heating on full, a blast of warm air immediately circling throughout the car. Nothing about that vehicle was cheap, the heating system built into it top of the range, within minutes it was as though she was sat on a warm beach with the sun belting down on her, the shivering slowing gradually to nothing allowing her to peel the drenched fabric of her flimsy jacket off of her shoulders to accept the thick jacket he’d thrust upon her, her coat, as instructed, dropped to the floor with a wet thud.
