“You are supposed to be resting in bed, Emily. your injuries are not yet healed.” A voice came from behind him.
Karrson did not reply immediately. A moment later, he sighed and turned around to face the speaker, and answered weakly and hoarsely.
“Resting? No. I am supposed to be treading a path.”

“Now, what you are about to hear may to you seem at times absurd and far-fetched, for you, though we are of similar age, after all were born an entire age after I was, and your vague knowlege of the past came from the misty and at times unreliable memory of elderly men. I will give you my first-hand account,in the way thatit, as the truth, deserves to be told. This, you may say,is my story, and you will be the first to hear it in such detail." Karson had dropped the often present smile upon his face as he made his remark, for he knew more than perhaps anyone how serious the tale that he is about to tell is. He must be grim in its telling, for it in itself is grave and sorrowful.
He drew himself nearer to the fire, and hugged his M16A4 tighter to find comfort in its cold and hard steel to help him embrace his painful memories.
