They medical staff must all be busy by now, and likely all the medical personal in the entire city, too, he thought, as he crashed through a set of double doors with white crosses painted on them. The medical room was, as he had expected, thronged. A young nurse tending to some not so injured boys look over at him and said, “You need help?”
“Yes, canteen, many injured, serious blood loss.” Karrson spoke out the words as soon as they passed through his pounding head.
By the time three medical workers followed Karrson to the canteen, his head ach had significantly relieved, but he felt horribly weary. He watched as the white-clad people did their work, and found that somehow the shoulders and backs of their white uniforms, now gray with the fine dust, became in some places slightly torn. The works took no notice of this.
Suddenly, a flash in midair, at about the height of one windows close it caught his eye. As his eyes adapted to the lighting in the room, he discovered that all the windows facing the directing whence the shock wave came were in similar condition. Many things flashed about the window that is now a square hole, but the flashes were more inside the room than the window itself.
