I turned and squinted through the torrential downpour. The vehicle from which the voice had originated had definitely seen better days. It was an older Subaru, and it had its fair share of dents and rust for sure. The passenger window was currently rolled down, and through it, I could see none other than Jordan Hughes. He had to duck a little bit over his center console so he could see my face from the low car.
“You need a ride?”
“I’ve never been more relieved to hear those words in my entire life,” I said as I practically dove inside his car, landing on the passenger seat. “Thanks.”
