future, promising something she didn’t yet understand, know, or own, yet she drew the signature with a seemingly indifferent mask, agreeing to a question before being asked.

‘It’s thirty seconds. Ly, get ready to teleport us out of here.’
Lydia looked at her watch again and shrugged on her black bag. ‘Well, you can buy another backpack somewhere else,’ She said regretfully to Cecy, ‘But you needn’t buy one for me. I have many bags to spare, and the blue one is ancient. Give me your hand.’
Cecy took hold of her hand, and wondered, too late, whether they would have separated had she not let go of Lydia’s hand to hold the daggers in the first place. But then, she did not know.
