‘No, I didn’t......’ Cecy felt fear swirl up inside of her, cutting off her voice.
‘I didn’t ask you whether you did something.’ Alberto turned to Lydia, ‘What hAppened, Ly?’
‘No, no,’ Lydia hastened to answer, ‘It wasn’t her fault. I accidentally slipped at the edge of the terrace and nearly fell, but she grabbed me. That’s it. Don’t look at her like that.’
‘You did not,’ Alberto insisted, ‘You wouldn’t have made such a mistake.’ Though he didn’t turn around, Cecy could feel his words aimed at her as he said, ‘I give you another chance.’
