Realizing this, Cecy felt a wave of sympathy for him, and relented, reaching for her lunch, and sitting down opposite Alberto, where Lydia usually sat. Alberto didn’t look up but continued to stare with unnatural intensity at his plate as it slowly emptied.
Lydia, after a slight pause, walked around the edge of the table and seated herself beside Alberto, moving his pack further away to clear room for her plate. She didn’t seem to want to talk further, and the meal was a silent and swift affair, ending soon with the three of them leaving the cafeteria behind and entering the training room through the long corridor.

Cecy had thought that she wouldn’t be able to enjoy the trip, as the tension between the three of them didn’t seem to lessen, yet she couldn’t help but feel a bubble of excitement as she left the other two and arrived at her bedroom. It was still nearly vacant, the only furniture being the gold-framed mirror and the bed, and she had plans to how to decorate it. She put down the objects Lydia had pulled out of her bag and handed to her carefully, and unraveled the newspaper, throwing it to one side, revealing the balls of string and the pair of scissors.
