Chapter Ten(7)
Besides her, Lydia also seemed to be thinking something, but what she thought must be graver than what Cecy was dimly wondering, for her eyebrows were furrowed. Cecy heard her murmur, ‘But is it really all right for Alberto to come here? Is there something wrong?’
Cecy couldn’t understand the exact meaning of her second sentence, but she gaged from the first that the other girl was worrying about whether it’s right to call Alberto from the woods.
Cecy resolved to comfort her, ‘It’s only five minutes until the explosion, and there seems to be no visible enemy except for that stranger you mentioned that Alberto met. It’s all right, Ly.’
Lydia didn’t seem to hear her but changed the subject quite abruptly. Cecy had a feeling that she wasn’t meant to hear her last sentence, and Lydia was too emersed in worry to care that she had been heard. So, Lydia continued, ‘I wonder, whether this world falls. I hope not.’
