As they walked onwards, gradually the people around them thickened, and as they arrived at the trance of the market Cecy could see that it was teeming with people.
‘Why are there so many people?’ Cecy asked Lydia who was beside her. The market back at home was usually half empty, with people only trickling out of it on early mornings.
‘It’s the weekend, I think,’ Lydia told her, ‘At least I had been aiming for a weekend.’
There were people selling all kinds of flowers right on the other side of the doorway. The delicate petals glittered with morning dew, half transparent under the light spilling through the transparent roof of the market. Cecy, caught by the beauty, asked Alberto whether she could buy it. Alberto’s expression was a bit odd as he informed her that she could. Cecy paid the flower seller with cash that Lydia gave her——the cash must have Appeared from thin air back in the Capsule, so she wouldn’t be owing Lydia, ——and joyously took the bunch of fresh flowers the smiling woman handed to her.
