Chapter Six(8)
So, please, wake up! She shook Will roughly. Or I will really hit you this time!
She couldn’t tell if she had spoken out loud or just shouted in her mind, because of the pounding in her ears.
Wake!!! Up!!!Now!!!
Part of her scolded at herself at being so panicky and helpless. What would shouting to an unconscious person do, when they are already bombarded by shrieking? It would just add to the din and chaos. At least no one would hear.
Will did not wake up, as she had expected. His eyelids twitched a bit as she watched, anxious, but remained tightly shut. With a sinking heart, she removed her hand from the belt, and the noise ceased. She had probably damaged her hearing, and the plan had not worked. She really doubted that no one had heard the sudden hideous noise, and knew that children or parents, old people or even the police and ambulance might be on the way, though she couldn’t hear footsteps through the ringing in her ears. She had failed.
