Emily's heel(6)
After that, there's an empty space beside her at dinner and Emily feels slightly guilty because, well, she missed dinner. Which sounds stupid, especially to her, who eats regularly. It's hard to think of herself as healthy when she hardly ever leaves her house. But she's gotten used to eating at least a few times a week. This happens every single other meal period in the year, even when she has to skip school. Sometimes, she just can't deal with food after the stress of her week, so she doesn't eat it. She barely even drinks coffee when she does go to the store. Sometimes, she forgets to drink water until later, either when she's running late or just plain too lazy to take care of it and she drinks it all. Sometimes she just sleeps in her clothes; she rarely showers when she goes grocery shopping. Sometimes she's so tired she simply falls asleep in the bathtub.
This feels strange, and she wonders if she's starting to forget what she needs.
"Mom?" Sarah says, interrupting Emily's thoughts. "Are you okay?"
