David didn't know what he expected, but this is definitely not it. He thought she'd be worried after all the months they spent together, but his messages barely made a dent in her coldness toward him. Maybe he expected her to call him and tell him she was sick or something, but that never happened.
The only reason they haven't broken off their relationship yet is because she still likes being married to him. He used to wonder if she ever loved him. But he's been wondering it for years. What if she stopped loving him when he disappeared without a trace after their marriage fell apart? What if she doesn't care anymore?
