In May 401, in the fourth year of Long 'an, Sun En led the rebel army to capture Kuaiji County and captured and killed the governor Xie Yan. In November, Liu Aozhi again led the army to the east, and Sun En was defeated again. Liu stationed himself at Shangyu and sent Liu Yu to defend Juzhangcheng, which is now Ningbo in Zhejiang Province. The city's walls were small and there were only a few hundred soldiers guarding it. In the spring of the fifth year of Long 'an (402), Sun En led the rebels to attack Juzhangcheng several times, but each time they were defeated by Liu Yu's tenacious defense. Therefore, Sun En led his troops to seek his way. In March, Sun En attacked Haiyan County in the north, and Liu Yu pursued him. Liu Yu built a city on the site of Haiyan County and fought against the rebels. The rebels attacked the city for several days in a row, causing serious damage to the forces inside.
