Chapter seven Biography of Zudi
Zu Ti (266-321 years), also written as Zu Ti, courtesy name Shizhi, was born in Fanyangqiu County (now Laishui County, Baoding City). Military strategist of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the first year of Jianwu (317), he led his army to invade the North, which was well received by people all over the country. Within a few years, he recovered a large amount of territory south of the Yellow River, which made Shile dare not invade the south.[ 2] But because of its strong power, the Eastern Jin court fears. In the fourth year of Taixing (321), the imperial court ordered Dai Yuan to leave Hefei to contain Zu Ti. He saw the infighting within the court and that the state decisions were often wrong. He died of grief and indignation, and the northern expedition was defeated. After his death, he was posthumously awarded as the "riding general".
