I don’t know what I’m looking for, she thought, unconsciously clasping her hands together as if in prayer, and what the boy said in her vision rose to her lips naturally. ‘There’s someone else, here.’
There should be someone else, here. Not vacant like an empty shell.
‘Who is here? Besides us two?’ Will asked in confusion, but Cecy didn’t answer.
She bent sideways, gently brushing the surface of the wooden seat beside them. ‘This place should be crowded, filled with excitement and music. But it’s not.’ She raised her fingers, and dust settled on the tips, then fell swirling down to the ground.
‘Why do you say this? How do you know? Or assume? Just because of the magnificent out——’
Cecy wagged her fingers, a smile already growing on her face. She loved the feeling that she knew something Will didn’t, and was tempted to keep it a secret, but——
‘I saw a vision outside the tower and it was filled with people.’ She hurried onwards before Will could interrupt, ‘ And the town was strangely empty. We haven’t met anyone since we arrived here, but judging from the number of houses and the state of the flowers and trees——they have been clipped recently, few weeds——’
