Chapter Four(23)
‘I told you it’s dangerous out there!’
As Cecy was watching as if spellbound, straining her eyes to make out what was the floating outline——a ship?—— A voice, a bit familiar, reached her ears. For one moment she thought hazily that it might be a memory of that dangerous terrace, what Will had said——what she was seeing seemed so much unreal, as if created by magic.
‘Weren’t you told not to touch uncertain objects before making sure what they do?’
‘Didn’t you just barely avoid being literally fried by a lightening bolt?’
‘Why did you touch that mirror? I didn’t even give you instructions on how to use them!’
Cecy felt like she had been bashed awake by a figurative wooden club to the head, and annoyance crept up silently. But she tried to raise an embarrassed smile——
‘I wouldn’t do it again,’ she promised, then felt silly, as it sounded like she was a kindergartner apologizing to the teacher, ‘If you tell me about mirrors.’
