I remember in high school when I was hooked on all the romantic shows domestic and abroad, like 还珠格格 and Ugly Betty (the Columbia version). Each night, I couldn’t go to bed unless I finished watching them on TV. My parents, at that time, considered my choice quite incomprehensible, wondering why I would spend so much time watching guys and girls kissing and talking about love when the college entrance exam was right around the corner. In my mind, they were out, narrow-minded, and irrelevant. Come to think of it, isn’t what I am doing exactly like what my parents did? No matter how hard I insist that the shows at my time are simply superior, the truth is: this is a sign that I am no longer relating to the pop culture, which is indeed an indication that I am getting older.
