Thane slid away and raised his sword — he wouldn’t let himself be caught unaware again.
The elder Greymane staggered to his feet, but nearly fell again when he tried to put weight on his leg. “Brother… why are you making this so difficult?”
“You didn’t expect me to put up a fight?” Thane growled.
“I expected you to understand!” Fang snapped, throwing himself at his brother with a swing of his sword. Thane blocked it, but Fang had come in too close — he opened his maw and buried his razor-sharp teeth into Thane’s neck.
The pain was immediate and intense. He tried to swing his sword, but Fang was too close to strike. Blood coursed down Thane’s fur, over his chainmail armor. I’m going to die. I’m going to—
No, he would not. Could not. He was a Greymane of Spire Stonebluffs, son of Thunder Greymane. And this creature trying to fell him was not his brother.
