“That’s understandable,” Jordan said. After a moment, he rapped his driver-side window with his knuckle and said, “I’m here.”
We passed a white house, though I couldn’t actually see much of it through the rain. If memory served right, it used to be owned by an older couple. They were the people who left out a bowl of full-sized candy bars for trick or treaters on Halloween. I hadn’t realized they’d left.
“Cool.” We pulled up to a stop sign. “Turn left here.”
“My house is the yellow one coming up on the right,” I said after we stopped at the next sign, leaning forward. I squinted to see my driveway through the downpour. “This one.”
Jordan immediately slowed down and turned on his blinker again. Thank God there was a mailbox marking the end of my driveway, otherwise he might not have been able to see where to turn. He pulled in and parked the car. I gave him a grateful smile.
“Thanks again,” I said. “I owe you one.”
