There wasn’t enough time for her to think about another way, so she tugged on one end of the rope she had just cut and threw the bottle with all her strength at the open window. She heard no significant sound, but the world began to twist and turn again, and Cecy closed her eyes tight. When she opened them again, there was the outline of a door on the other side of the room, where there hadn’t been before. Light shone through the cracks underneath the door, inviting Cecy to open it. As if in a trance, Cecy mechanically pulled the rope back from the window, and put all useful items into her blue bag. She crossed the room and reached out for the handle of the door——
