For though Lydia had diverted the topic quickly as if didn’t exist, Cecy was quite sure that when the other girl told her to let go, and for the benefit of the other too, Lydia had briefly truly believed in what she was talking about. Actually, telling her to let go, even though Cecy could still hold on.
What secrets are you hiding? Cecy thought. To actually feel that way? But then, she had no rights to probe the other’s secrets, if she was still intent on finding a way to return to her normal life. She had pretended that she didn’t think of it much, but that was just a show.
