The three of them stepped into the mirror Lydia had created hand in hand, and it was cool darkness once more, nothingness pressing in from all sides.

Cecy opened her eyes. She was in a totally different place, an alien place too.
Though she had been to amusement parks a lot of times, she could tell that this one she had never visited. It was way larger than any she had ever been to. Next to a seemingly normal carousel sat a large castle, its tallest tower stretching upward towards the clouds. Unlike the white tower she had visited previously, this castle was colorful, dappled with rich red, pink and orange, its extravagant curved windowsills and the fanciful front door speaking of the fairy stories. A younger girl would have been infatuated by the scene, and Cecy could remember her sister almost diving into the doors of an amusement park much like this one in excitement when she was eleven, see her then remembering thirteen-year-old Cecy and waving to her from the entrance, her smile brilliant, framed in the rays of the setting sun.
Though they have never been to the amusement park since, the memory was precious to Cecy and she had sometimes been reminded of it later, when both of them had grown out of the fairy stories. The sun was setting now too, bathing the surroundings in a golden glow, shining through the support beams and carriages of the Ferris wheel up in front.
