Chapter Eight(9)

‘Come on,’ she heard a voice, and for a moment she thought it was her sister’s call from her past, though there was something different. She started towards the castle, but her hand was grabbed by Lydia, and Lydia dragged her to a more dimly lit narrow path hidden in the canopies of trees. Cecy turned her head around and saw Alberto following them into the shadows. He was no longer joking around, and Cecy came back to the present. The voice who had mumbled ‘Come on’ was Lydia’s, no doubt. The three of them were now crouching behind a thick groove of thickets. 

Alberto had his gaze trained smartly upon the Ferris Wheel, and Lydia was motioning for Cecy to follow her. Cecy stood up, and heard a twig snap loudly at her feet, followed by the crunching of dried leaves under her boots. Meanwhile, Lydia had walked further into the shadows, but Cecy was sure that the sound of her boots treading upon the fallen leaves were barely audible.
‘Isn’t he coming with us?’ Cecy said over the snaps of leaves.
