Chapter Eight(4)
‘I hadn’t meant to cut it,’ Cecy tried to sound indignant, but failed Her voice lowered to barely a whisper, and she completed the sentence. ‘I aimed at the target next to yours, but apparently it went off course.’ I shouldn’t have been so impulsive, Cecy thought, one more centimeter to the right and she couldn’t think what would have happened.
‘That would have been murder, you know.’ Lydia sighed. ‘I understand that your shock at arriving here was severe, especially if you had no inkling that you were different and there seems to be nothing to gain for you to remain here. But——’
‘I know,’ Cecy cut her off. ‘I’ll come with you guys.’ She reached inside the pile of weapons and found another sharp dagger, which she hanged on her belt, ignoring the wailing. Lydia blanched at the noise, then handed her a butterfly knife. ‘I know you don’t know how to use it yet, but just keep it, count it as a precaution, ok?’
‘All right?’ Cecy took hold of the butterfly knife, then hesitated: ‘Where am I going to put it?’
‘About that, maybe you should just let me keep it in my bag.’ Lydia answered. ‘And come to think of it, let’s grab some more of our stuff before going there. Cecy, you don’t have your things here, yet, but maybe you can buy some of it in that world and bring it back. To decorate your room, maybe.’
