‘Meanwhile, we have a mission to complete. And no sneaking away,’ Lydia added to Alberto. ‘There’s no marshmallow or sweet treats there, though it’s an amusement park.’
‘I don’t believe you.’ Alberto said, ‘There’s no amusement park without snacks. Or they would have closed down way before any weird and unfortunate thing happens.’
He thought for a bit, and continued, ‘Though that would have been a good thing. Less work for us.’
‘You don’t need more sugary snacks to soften your already undetermined brain.’ Lydia resumed her talk as Alberto’s voice died down, ‘This is Cecy’s first chance at a mission. Let’s see how she works out as part of our team, ok? Cecy, just remember.’
Cecy, who had been fiddling with the dagger she had just picked up from the pile of weapons, heard the words and looked up. ‘What?’
‘This mission is dangerous. So run if you are scared.’ Grimness crept into Lydia’s voice as she spoke. ‘And for your benefit, I’ll tell you that we won’t kill anybody, hopefully. If all goes well, we won’t even be hurting anyone.’
