Lydia had already pulled a piece of white cloth that looked like a bandage, and carefully bandaged Cecy’s right hand. ‘Yes, that’s a problem. But not a big one.’ She raised her eyebrows at Cecy. ‘For you are left-handed, are you? You only grabbed the dagger with your right hand because your left hand was already occupied or will soon be.’
‘So please, move your left hand further away from your likely-to-scream belt.’
I thought I won’t be found out.
‘Ah, I’m sorry,’ Cecy said, seeming crestfallen, ‘But it’s your fault, appearing suddenly behind me without a sound. Be careful next time, I have a wailing belt and you don’t.’
Lydia smiled in spite of herself. ‘Yeah, you’re right.’ ‘And besides,’ she said to Alberto in a lightly teasing voice, ‘You told me not long ago that you are great at guessing what people would do.’
