I shook my head, feeling embarrassed. "Actually, um, dad? Would it be possible to watch a horror film instead?"
"Huh?"
His expression went from concerned to confused. I quickly explained, hoping it wouldn't sound too desperate.
"No, no! Nothing scary! Just maybe some scary movies."
我很尴尬地摇了摇头。“事实上,嗯,爸爸?我们可以看一部恐怖电影吗?”
“嗯?”
他的表情从关心变成了困惑。我赶紧解释，希望这听起来不会太绝望。
“不,不!没有什么可怕的!也许只是一些恐怖电影。”
I added quickly. My hands fidgeted. "I just, uh, need to be quiet."
"Oh, well, of course!" He smiled warmly. "Why don't we start with something new? How about... Mid‑July Days 3?"
"Mid–July Days 3?!"
"Yes!" His voice became louder than normal. "And if you want to sleep in late tomorrow, then do it."
"Ok... But I don't think I'll be able to go to sleep early enough to miss the show."
