Lastly, why is Harry picked up a day after the incident? Leaving a kid in a murder scene without prompt action seems to be a pretty dumbfounding idea to me. One might argue that Hagrid’s motorcycle takes time to fly from Godric’s Hollow to Privet Drive so that would be directed back to the third question. Even worse, why is Harry left outside the house even though Professor Dumbledore could just knock on the door or sacrifice a bit of time, cast himself a Disillusionment Charm and stand guard through the night? Instead, he just left Harry on the doorstep and leave. There might be protective charms and all, it still feels weird.
