To be a doctor or a policeman, my parents never reach a consensus. With no offense to my parents, I have to vacillate to the left and right. For a while, I have no idea to be a doctor or to be a policeman. During the three years of my high school career, my mind staggered from doctor to police and hesitated from police to doctor. When filling in majors to college entrance, I found a new fresh word: Forensic Science Specialty.
It made the best of both worlds!
Although my mom was still reluctant, with my dad’s support, I finally filled in the forensic science specialty as the first choice favorably.
But it was in 1988 that forensic medicine was totally the most unpopular faculty among unpopular faculties. All over the country in one year there were just 300 graduates. I was admitted to Forensic Faculty of Wannan Medical College with a score of 30 points higher than general undergraduate admission line. I was the only one who filled in the first specialty among the forty students. Others were subject to adjustment to this major. So, the forty forensic students started a new life completely unknown with curiosity and remorse.
Medical students are all know that medical curriculums are not easy from freshman year, especially systematic anatomy which is a nightmare course whose failure rate is so miserable that one cannot bear seeing it. I passed through cut-off scores by luck. When summer vacation came, my dad ardently helped to find an opportunity of internship which is the forensic division of the criminal police detachment of the public security bureau in my native place so as to increase my experience. Thinking of the exciting scenes in the TV series would come true, I was so excited that I count down the days eagerly. I can’t wait for the departure to come sooner.
