The Sound of Silence(18)
“So what is he going to do?” said the third one.
“Who knows, maybe he is going for the disc on the summit,” said the fourth one in fun. ”You know the tale.”
“What disc?” asked the first one.
“In the tale my mom told me when I was a child,” said the second one. “It is believed that on the hidden summit of our Mountain, buries a disc. It contains the most beautiful music in our land, so beautiful that one who hears it will forget all temporal affairs.”
“Where does that disc come from?” asked the third one.
“At least not from the earth,” answered the fourth one.
“It could be the Heart of our Mountain,” said the third one. “The music from paradise.”
“Anyway I do not believe such superstition,” claimed the first one. “Who has ever seen it? No one can prove its existence.”
“Indeed. I believe it no longer since I was twelve,” agreed the second one. “It is nothing but a tale.”
“What if those who try to prove it have never been back?” argued the third one. “Maybe there are many people just like that one, heading up toward the summit just to have a look. The only thing is that they forget to go back.”
